The Minnesota Wild open their season tonight at the Xcel Energy Center against the LA Kings and earlier today they inked one of their top players to a 5-year contract extension.

StarTribune.com is reporting that Jason Pominville, whom the Wild traded for last season, signed a an extension worth $28 million earlier today.

Now the Wild can focus on the season and not lingering contract talk in what is year filled with very high expectations from fans and ownership alike.
