Minnesota Twins Add Hansel Robles To Bullpen

The Bullpen was depleted this year due to contracts and the staff going to other teams or cuts. The Twins turned to Angels reliever Hansel Robles.

Robles becomes the first signing of the offseason for the team according to Pioneer Press. The announcement was made by the team yesterday late in the day. According to the PP, Robles began with the Mets before working for the last five years with the Angels.

According to the PP article, Robles signed a one-year, $2 million dollar deal to try and create a strong bullpen, which has been a weakness for them. The Minnesota Twins have been busy letting guys go, according to the PP article, they non-tendered Matt Wisler and declined a club option on Sergio Romo. The Twins lost Trevor May to the Mets. Tyler Clippard, who played an important role last year, is a free agent and the Twins have not made an offer. Clippard, Wisler, and May were the most called on relievers last season.

Robles will join the only relievers left on staff, Taylor Rogers, Caleb Thielbar, Tyler Duffey, Cody Stashak, and Jorge Alcala. The Minnesota Twins still have to make more moves in the bullpen as well as other needs like DH Nelson Cruz, who is a free agent, and of course filling the spot of Eddie Rosario, whom the Twins non-tendered this year.
