The Minnesota State Patrol has announced the retirement of a very successful and decorated member of their team, K-9 officer Diesel.

The retirement announcement was officially posted on the Minnesota State Patrol Facebook page:

Congrats to K-9 Diesel on his retirement! Diesel’s last day on the job was Monday. He worked for more than eight years with Trooper Doug Rauenhorst along the Interstate 35 corridor in Rochester. They were a very successful duo, sniffing out drugs destined for Minnesota communities. Diesel was deployed 453 times resulting in the following seizures:

• 79.8 pounds of cocaine
• 1,636 pounds of marijuana
• 206.7 pounds of methamphetamine

Trooper Rauenhorst and Diesel also performed well at the United States Police Canine Association where they received numerous awards.

That is quite a performance record, and to think that's only what was confiscated along a small section of one Minnesota highway.

Enjoy your retirement, Diesel, you've certainly earned it!
