Minnesota Claims Two $50K Powerball Winners Monday As Next Jackpot Hits $1 Billion
It appears that Powerball is taking center stage this week across the United States as the jackpot continues to grow, hitting a big-time milestone for the Wednesday, July 19 drawing.
Powerball was already gaining momentum to start the week as the July 17 jackpot grew to an estimated $900 million ahead of Monday night's drawing.
The winning Powerball numbers on Jul 17 were: 05-08-09-17-41 Powerball 11. The Power Play was 4x. While nobody won the jackpot, there were big winners in Minnesota.
The Minnesota Lottery is reporting two $50,000 winners from Monday. To win $50,000 the winners would've matched 4 out of 5 white numbers while also matching the Powerball number. Amazingly close to winning the jackpot!
According to the Minnesota Lottery, the $50,000 winning tickets were purchased at the following locations:
- Cub Foods #1589 - 7191 10th Street N, Oakdale
- Billy & Marty's - 120 S 6th Street Suite 219, Minneapolis
The two $50,000 have yet to claim their prize so we don't yet know who they are and unless they decide to come forward publicly, we may never know. Lottery regulation changes took place to protect winners who win over $10,000. Big-money winners can become targets for scammers and fraud, so the Minnesota Lottery will not divulge their name unless they first agree to it.
This sets the stage for Powerball mania on Wednesday night as the jackpot has already climbed to a whopping $1 billion! Powerball drawings take place at 9:59 p.m. CST. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
If you want to take a shot at all that cash, remember the cutoff to purchase your Powerball tickets is 9:00 p.m. on the days of the drawings. Remember to check the winning numbers after the drawing to see if you're a billionaire. If you won the jackpot and opted for the cash option, you'd take home around $516,800,000.
