Doesn't this cat make your heart melt? This playful, adorable cat is up for adoption and looking for a forever home.

We talked with Nicole at Duluth's Animal Allies today about the featured pet of the week. This might be the first time we've talked about a cat missing a leg. It's happened before with dogs, but this is the first cat I've come across.

We had to ask, what happened to her?

Her name is Yardstick, (maybe because she only has 3 feet, the same length as a yardstick?), and she's a 3-year-old domestic short hair. She lost her leg in an accident that involved a garage door.

Fortunately, Yardstick was young enough that she was able to adapt and she gets around just fine. She loves romping around and playing, and when she gets tired she loves to cuddle with her human.

Staff says she is always up front and center in the cat area, talking to people coming through the shelter. She's probably hoping someone will take her home!

Yardstick also is very outgoing and likes making new friends, especially when treats are involved. This cat has plenty of love to share. Yardstick does have a manageable kidney issue as well and Animal Allies will help set you up with success and the proper treatment.
