Become A Trained Weather Spotter For Free In April

Are you intrigued by the weather? Now you can get involved with it in a fun way!

The National Weather Service of Duluth will be hosting a few Skywarn Spotter Training classes throughout the month of April. NWS will be hosting the training all across the area, everywhere from Grand Rapids to Superior to Hinckley!

There will be a class in Superior on Monday, April 8th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The training will held at the Douglas County Courthouse in Room 270.

Duluth's class will follow shortly after on Thursday, April 11th. It begins at 6:30 p.m. and continues until 8:30 p.m. The training will be held at the First United Methodist Church at 230 East Skyline Parkway.

The Skywarn Spotter Training classes are super beneficial if you have an interest in the weather. At the classes you will do the following:

• Receive training from the National Weather Service.
• Learn the basics of weather events, like thunderstorm development.
• Learn severe weather safety information.
• Learn how you can prepare for major weather events.
• Train to identify storms.
• Become an official spotter for the National Weather Service Duluth.

You can learn all of this and more free of charge.

As mentioned, there are a bunch of other weather spotting classes in the area throughout the month of April. If you can't make the ones in Superior or Duluth, you have plenty more to choose from. Take a look at the full schedule here.

This training will probably shed quite a bit of light on the brutal weather we've had this year and prepare us for another scary winter in the future. Ha!
