Now that Duluth's Gobble Gallop is over for another year, it's time to put away the turkey hats and other Thanksgiving gear and bring out the festive Santa gear for another fun Northland 5K.

The Wild Santa Run, presented by Wild State Cider and Duluth Running Co. is scheduled for this Saturday, December 10 and there is still room to sign up and get in on the fun.

The race course starts and ends at Wild State Cider in Duluth, located at 2515 W. Superior Street, where you also get to finish off with celebration at the taproom with Wild State Cider and Duluth Running Co.

According to organizers, registration for this family-friendly event includes a five-piece Santa Suit to run in, a post race cider, a bowl of chili to warm you up after the race sponsored by A Room at the Table catering, and entrance to the all-ages after party featuring live holiday music by Laura Velvet.

Not only is the 5K a lot of fun, but new this year is Reindeer Run, a free quarter mile race for kids 8 and under that can run on their own. All kids who register and participate will get a free pair of reindeer antlers.

Here is the December 10 schedule of events:

  • 9:30 am - Registrations closes
  • 9:00 - 10:00 am - Packet Pickup
  • 10:15 am - Reindeer Run
  • 10:30 am - Wild Santa 5K Start at Wild State Cider
  • 11:30 am - Awards and prize raffles at Wild State Cider
  • 11:15 am - 2:00 PM - Santa Fest Music by Laura Velvet and food by A Room at the Table

Hopefully this event continues to grow just as the Gobble Gallop has. Sure, it can be cold but once you're bundled up and moving, you get used to whatever Mother Nature throws at you.
