It was a beautiful day today at the Lake Superior Zoo, who marked World Lemur Festival by announcing the names of their four baby lemurs, making a donation on behalf of zoo guests to the Madagascar Fauna Group and having plenty of fun for both visitors and prosimians.

World Lemur Festival aims to raise awareness about lemurs and Madagascar's unique heritage.

The names selected by Boo at the Zoo guests:

  • Riley and Felana (male and female born to Riona on 5-31-14)
  • Lorelei and London (females born to Sorcha on 6-29-14)
Five hundred and fifty dollars ($550) was sent to the Madagascar Fauna Group.  The money came from guests who made donations when they cast their ballots for their favorite lemur names. The Madagascar Fauna Group (MGF) is a consortium of zoos, aquariums and botanical gardens working together to save biodiversity in Madagascar.
