Kevin Garnett Waives His No-Trade Clause to Return to the Minnesota Timberwolves

In 1995 the Minnesota Timberwolves drafted Kevin Garnett right out of high school and he would soon become the face of the franchise, at one point leading the team to the Western Conference Finals.  Twelve years ago, they traded him to the Boston Celtics where he would win an NBA Championship, and then he would go to Brooklyn .  Today, Kevin Garnett agreed to come home.

StarTribune.com is reporting that Garnett agreed to waive his no-trade clause to return to the Timberwolves in a deal that sends Thaddeus Young to Brooklyn.  Garnett is in the final year of his contract and my very well retire after this season, but perhaps he will play one more year to help mentor a talented, but very young and inexperienced Timberwolves team.

At the very least, it gives the team more financial flexibility moving forward and it should spark ticket sales as he's reunited with Flip Saunders, his first NBA coach.

Garnett has also talked openly about his interest in buying the team from Glen Taylor, so perhaps now he can start house shopping early for the next stage of his career.
