Duluth Native Wins Big At The 2023 CMA Awards
Anyone else still thinking about the 2023 CMA Awards? The biggest night in country music was epic this year, with out-of-genre appearances from Post Malone and Peyton Manning, among many others. It was quite the night.

It's no secret Lainey Wilson had the best night of all, taking home several trophies, including the coveted Entertainer Of The Year award. She even won two awards before the show started for her duet with HARDY, one of which she shares with a Minnesotan turned Nashville songwriter.
'Wait In The Truck' was nominated for a bunch of awards at the show, including Single and Song of the Year. While it didn't take the win in either of those categories, it did get rewarded for Music Video of the Year and Musical Event of the Year.
In case you didn't know, the song was written and produced by a Duluth native named Jordan Schmidt. The Musical Event of the Year award goes to the producers of the song, meaning Jordan got some nice new hardware on Wednesday (November 8th).
He's no stranger to country music stardom. He has written some of the biggest songs in country music over the past few years, including Lainey Wilson's latest number one Watermelon Moonshine. It seems they have an award-winning formula when they get together!
This isn't even the first time the song has been awarded this year! It also took home the award for Collaborative Video of the Year at the 2023 CMT Music Awards. That should have been a sign of things to come. HARDY thanked Jordan in his speech.

It has been a big year for all of the artists and writers involved! It's cool to see a Duluth native killing it in Nashville. Jordan will have to make room on his trophy shelf, considering he has been cleaning up this year.
He also helped pen other award-winning songs, like God's Country and Truth About You by Mitchell Tenpenney, among many others. We love to see it!
