Country Star Gives Duluthian A Shoutout During Award Win
It was a massive night for country stars on Sunday (April 2nd) as the CMT Music Awards took over Austin, Texas. The show features the biggest and brightest stars in country music who took to the stage to perform, win an award or in a few lucky instances, both.
One of the biggest wins of the night went to HARDY and Lainey Wilson for their intense duet Wait In The Truck. The song is a massive hit and is on track to be the number one song in the country at some point in the next few weeks. This win was not a huge surprise but still pretty cool.
Even sweeter? The hit was written and produced by Duluth native Jordan Schmidt. There were a few other songwriters and producers on the track but Jordan had the largest hand in the song, as he got a special shoutout from Hardy during the big win!
Hardy began his speech by saying that he remembers the day that Jordan sent him back the demo for the song, which Hardy also had a hand in writing. Hardy says he was so inspired that he wrote the entire script for the music video because he knew how powerful the song was.
Hardy also thanked Lainey for working so hard and gave a shoutout to the director of the video. It was pretty amazing to see a Duluth native getting some attention on live television and for a song that really moves the needle. Check it out below:
This isn't the first time Jordan has been associated with a big award on a major stage. In 2020, a song he wrote won the ACM award for Single Of The Year. God's Country was written by Jordan and cut by Blake Shelton - and ended up being a smash hit.
This is one accomplishment that sticks out among many. Jordan has written some of the most massive hits in country music over the past few years and has also had a hand in recent hits for artists like Tyler Hubbard, Cole Swindell and Morgan Wallen. In September, he snagged another number one for his song Truth About You, made a smash by Mitchell Tenpenney. Next up: another number one with Hardy and Lainey!
