We are sort of in an awkward place right now as far as the seasons go, there’s still enough warm weather left that you might still need bug spray or sunscreen, but we’re also starting to get ready for the change of the seasons.

Halloween costumes are out, heck I’ve even seen some Christmas decorations and designs too. How many paychecks is it before Christmas?

But we’re also starting to see items for the upcoming winter, you know it will be here before we know it. Now may be a good time to get those new gloves and boots, you know the things to keep you warm when it gets really cold.

My wife and I were in Costco in St. Cloud this week picking up a few items, and we’re thinking of getting a small freezer or refrigerator to put in our garage at our apartment for more space.

As we were tooling along looking at the appliance selection, I kept seeing a phrase I’m not familiar with; “Garage Ready”.  We each guessed what we thought it meant, and we were basically close, without having intimate knowledge of using an appliance that said that before.

If you don’t know, we moved here from North Carolina last year and we didn’t really see that term there.

It means that the appliance maintains a stable temperature when the surrounding temperatures range from the very cold, down to 0 F,  to extreme hot temperatures, to around 110 F.

Most garages aren’t climate controlled obviously, so this makes sense that you’d need an appliance that is built for the extreme temperature shifts it could encounter.

I asked a few folks in our building about the term, and it didn’t stand out to them. So, I thought, maybe you might not know either. With a quick search on the internet, you’ll find a wide range of appliances that are ready to provide you with extra storage in your garage. Hopefully it is built to survive the extremes of the weather.

I’m glad we saw that term, because honestly, I hadn’t thought about those weather extremes being a factor for a refrigerator or freezer. I guess that means I’m not thinking completely like a Minnesotan yet, but I’m working on it.
