Have You Seen These Gorgeous Yellow Flowers in Minnesota?

Just a few days ago, I noticed some bright, yellow flowers popping up in the ditches in Minnesota. Whenever these yellow bunches show up in Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Minnesota, it means one thing...fall is almost here.

A few years ago, I took a road trip from Minnesota to Florida. I hopped in my car, picked my daughter up in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and we drove all the way until we hit a beach. (aka...my happy place) Unfortunately, we had to come back but something magical had happened while we were away. As we drove through Illinois, I spotted yellow flowers that had popped up in the ditches on the side of the road. These tall, gorgeous flowers are called Goldenrods.

A few fun facts about the yellow flower, Goldenrod:

Goldenrod is the state flower of Alabama, Kentucky, and Nebraska
There is one goldenrod that is white - the Solidago bicolor.
This plant is one of the most effective ways to treat a urinary tract infection.
Thomas Edison experimented with goldenrod to try to use it as a rubber source because the leaves contain some latex.
It's in the sunflower family
Bees LOVE this plant. Honeyrunfarm.com even said "it is like manna from heaven".
...and when you open up the honey from the bees after they've loved this plant, it smells like dirty socks
