Duluth Area’s Skyline Social And Games Marks Big Step In Twin Cities Expansion Project
This spring, I shared some exciting news for a Northland business, as they plan to expand to add a Twin Cities location.
Skyline Social & Games, on Highway 53 just outside of Duluth in Hermantown, Minnesota, has grown into an exciting multi-activity venue over the years.
Growing from what was once mostly just a bowling alley, their renovation in the Twin Ports area a few years ago saw them expand to offer duckpin bowling, axe throwing, and lots of outdoor space for games like bags (cornhole), beach volleyball, and bocce.
Seeing the amazing success of their location in Northern Minnesota, the team at Skyline is taking advantage of a chance to open their second location. This new location is set to be part of a new development in Apple Valley.

Since getting an approval from the Apple Valley Planning Commission in April, news has been quiet on the project. Until just recently.
The team at Skyline Social & Games shared a social media post on October 1, showing a hard hat with the Skyline logo on it, perched on top of a shovel stuck in some dirt on an empty lot. The only caption was two emojis: ![]()
.
For those not in the know, this might be a confusing post, but for those who know about their building plans in Apple Valley, it is an exciting first step!
Indicating a groundbreaking and the start of the construction project, we now know that work is getting underway to convert the empty lot at the Orchard Place Development at this new development in Apple Valley into Skyline's second location.
As I highlighted in my April story about plans for the new location, Skyline plans to offer a very similar experience at its upcoming Twin Cities location.
The 97,200-square-foot space will include 46,200 square feet of indoor space and over 50,000 square feet of outdoor space. 20 bowling lanes, a dozen duckpin lanes, 5 axe-throwing lanes, and banquet and meeting spaces will be part of the indoor design.
The outdoor area will include 9 sand volleyball courts, a dozen cornhole courts, 4 bocce courts, and other amenities like indoor/outdoor bar space, outdoor seating, and more.

While it is often the case that a popular Twin Cities business expands north, it's exciting to see Skyline expanding southward, growing into an additional location in the Twin Cities!
We'll keep an eye on the project and share additional developments as they occur.
