Is Fall Coming Early This Year? The Old Farmer’s Almanac Says…

The past few days have been very cold and gloomy which leads me to one question - have we already turned the corner into fall? I don't want to get ahead of myself but it sure seems that way.

Of course, weather takes a big turn in September as we see the official start to fall near the end of the month. (Another sign it is upon us - the Pumpkin Spice Latte, which is officially back!)

If you believe in the Old Farmer's Almanac and their method of forecasting, it looks like September will be a chilly one. Here is a breakdown of what they are predicting:

Beginning on September 1st through the 5th, we will see sunshine and cool conditions.

From September 6th through the 13th, expect a few showers and chilly temperatures. Yikes.

Starting on the 14th of September through the 20th, expect rain showers and mild conditions.

From September 21st through the 26th, things will change a bit. Sunshine will return and so will warmer temperatures.

Rounding out the end of the month, from the 27th through the 30th, we will see the return of rain and cool temps.

It's interesting to note that the average temperature will be 1 degree below average, rounding out at about 57 degrees.

We will see just as much rain as we always do - about 3 inches, which is about average.

If you aren't familiar with the Old Farmer's Almanac, you should know it's a system of long range forecasting. Those behind it don't give day-to-day breakdowns, but rather forecast for a long period of time. They also forecast by region, with ours including a good portion of the Northland. Some believe it works while others don't.

Either way - more signs are pointing to fall arriving early than not. I am perfectly fine with this as long as the snow holds off for now.
