I-35 Bridge Project Starts In Duluth September 5th, Expect Closures
Part of I-35 is about to get a makeover and it starts right here.
Beginning next Wednesday, September 5th, expect a little bit more road construction.
The bridge at 37 1/2 Avenue West over Interstate 35 will get a new look starting midweek. The bridge painting project will require the closure of northbound and southbound right lanes of the interstate.
The ramps that will remain open in the area are:
- Southbound I-35 to 40th Avenue West
- 40th Avenue West to Northbound I-35
Traffic congestion will be a big problem. Expect back-ups during peak hours. It is also encouraged you use the zipper merge method in order to keep traffic moving as much as possible.
The new painting project at 37 1/2 Avenue West bridge will be done late in September, according to a press release from the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
More bridges will be painted in the near future as part of the same project. Look for those to be completed next summer.
