It is time to say goodbye to two major retailers in the area.

One of the country's largest department store companies, Bon-Ton, is closing the doors on all 256 of its stores, including a few in the Northland.

The Herberger's in Virginia's Thunderbird Mall is officially set to close, along with the  Younkers store at the Miller Hill Mall in Duluth.

Both websites confirm the closures, announcing their going-out-of-business sales, beginning Friday, April 20th. The sales are expected to run for the next 10 to 12 weeks, according to reports.

Customers only have 10 days to use up their gift cards. Coupons and store credit cards will no longer be accepted.

This isn't a complete shock. Bon-Ton filed for bankruptcy earlier this year and announced the closure of their Younkers location in Superior, Wisconsin.

WDIO reports the stores will be open no later than August 31st of this year. Between now and then, the company has started a website where you can track information and get answers to frequently asked questions.

Bon-Ton's website says they operate 250 stores in 23 different states.

Herberger's is located at 1440 South 12th Ave West in Virginia, Minnesota. Younkers can be found at 1600 Miller Trunk Highway in Duluth.
