Star-Lord Meets His Dad In the New ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ Trailer
More space battles, more Chris Pratt banter, and plenty of adorable moments with Baby Groot, all to the soundtrack of Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain.” What more could you ask for from the new trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2?
Marvel dropped the new trailer for the James Gunn sequel late last night. It’s got Drax shouting “die spaceship!” in mid-air, Baby Groot’s cuteness distracting Gamora, and some stunning shots that kind of evoke Alejandro Jodorowsky’s The Holy Mountain – I cannot believe I just found a way to link that insane movie with a Marvel movie, but I did! The best part of all? The end of the trailer finds Pratt’s Peter meeting is old man, Kurt Russell’s Ego.
The second Guardians of the Galaxy film finds the whole gang, including Gamora’s sister Nebula (Karen Gillan), fighting to protect the galaxy one more time. Here’s the full synopsis:
Set to the backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
Along with Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper return for the sequel. The film also features Elizabeth Debicki as Ayesha, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, and of course Russell as Ego the Living Planet. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 opens May 5.
