Gordy’s Hi-Hat In Cloquet Introduces New Year-Round Food Truck

Gordy's Hi-Hat in Cloquet is a favorite destination for Northland residents and tourists every summer. Their old-fashioned appeal has even led Guy Fieri to feature them on the Food Network television show 'Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives'.

Gordy’s Hi-Hat was opened in 1960 by native Duluthians Gordy and Marilyn Lundquist, who got their start by building the first A & W Root Beer Stand in Eveleth 1950. They boast that those were the days "when car-hops served customers frosted mugs of root beer brewed on the premises and fresh, hand-patted hamburgers on locally baked hamburger buns which had to be sliced by hand."

They then built the London Inn Drive Inn on London Road in Duluth, which was extremely successful and a popular hangout for local high school students. That ultimately led them to Cloquet where they would build the iconic Gordy's Hi-Hat, which remains independently owned and operated by the Lundquist family today. They're proud of the fact that they've continued to do things the “old-fashioned” way for 63 years.

For visitors to Gordy's Hi-Hat, the only downside is that they are not open year-round. However, they recently announced that not only is that going to change to a degree, but they are also introducing new menu items for customers to enjoy.

Over Labor Day weekend, they successfully introduced everyone to Gordy's Brat Stand, their new food truck that features brats, Lumberjack Bites, chips, and beverages.

According to FOX 21, Gordy's Brat Stand not only gives them the opportunity to serve new menu items, but it also allows them to feed the community beyond the usual seasonal hours of Gordy's Hi-Hat.

When they're not out working at an event, they will be open each weekend from Gordy's Hi-Hat location, 415 Sunnyside Drive in Cloquet.
