Sgt. Baker from the MN State Patrol came in today to talk to us a bit about what's going on in the Northland.  One of the things he brough up was proper child safety in vehicles, namely using the proper seat.  There are some pretty scary statistics that can make you think twice about if your kid is safe.  For example over a half of kids killed in car accidents were not properly restrained.

As kids are going back to school and soccer moms and dads are shuttling them around, it's a good time to brush up on laws, proper child restraints, and just general safety.

The best way to find out if you are correctly protecting your kids is to visit a free clinic put on by the Duluth Fire Department.  It's the 3rd Thursday of the month, on a first come, first serve basis.  These experts have been through extensive training and will be able to make sure you are using the right car seat, or booster seat, and that it is installed correctly.

There are a ton of videos available at the Minnesota Department Of Public Safety Website.  It's a great resource!
