Free COVID-19 Rapid Result Tests Begin For Community At UWS
The University of Wisconsin-Superior has partnered with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to serve as a "surge testing" site in Superior. The tests administered will be rapid-results tests that will be available to anyone 5 years of age or older that is a resident of Wisconsin or Minnesota.
The testing site will be located in the Merz Mortorelli Gym in the Marcovich Wellness Center. Testing begins as soon as Monday November 9. The tests being used are from Abbott BinaxNOW and they are antigent tests that provide a result in about 15 minutes. They also will use PCR confirmation tests for people who need them.
You do not need to be experiencing symptoms to get tested. Anyone over the age of 5 that lives in Minnesota or Wisconsin can get tested as long as they register online ahead of time. There will be a limited number of spots available daily on a first come first serve basis. They will also allow non resident UW-Superior students to be tested as well.
