Fortune Bay Casino Will Have Soft Reopening on June 1st
Fortune Bay Casino has mostly been closed during the COVID-19 pandemic. They cancelled all room reservations through May 31st and closed the casino gaming floor. The Wilderness Grill was providing limited service and the marina was open, but besides that the casino was shuttered. Now, leaders at the casino operated by the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa are confident they can reopen softly with certain procedures that will keep people safe.
According to the Hibbing Daily Tribune, starting June 1st Fortune Bay Casino will be open at reduced hours from 9am to 1am. Before the pandemic the casino operated 24 hours a day.
As far as restaurants, The Sunset Grill and Tamarack Buffet will remain closed. The Gold Mine Grill and North Star Bar will be open for reduced hours. The grill will serve food from 9am-10pm during the week and be open until midnight on Friday and Saturday nights. The North Star Bar will serve drinks from 10am-midnight throughout the week.
All weddings have and conferences have been postponed at Fortune Bay. The pool, sauna, hot tub, and workout center also will remain closed.
The Wilderness golf course has been open since May 8th to golfers. It is a world renowned golf course, and they have seen many golfers make the trip north to play a round of golf.
Other casinos across the state have announced their own guidelines and timelines for reopening. Grand Casino Hinckley has not set a date for reopening, but offered what their plan is at this point. Mystic Lake Casino has announced they are reopening on May 26th.
