Northern Minnesota Braces For Scorching Temperatures This Week
It's official - summer is here! It might have been the longest winter ever, in my opinion, and now we are finally getting to soak in all the sunshine that we have earned in the Northland.
While we've had a few hot days here and there, our hottest stretch yet moves into the area on Monday (June 29th) and it is going to be a scorcher. Because we haven't really seen super hot conditions yet this year, it's a good idea to stay indoors and stay hydrated.

The National Weather Service of Duluth shared details about the heat before things start heating up this afternoon so we can start preparing ourselves accordingly. According to their forecast, Monday will be the hottest day of the stretch.
That means once we get through Monday, things will cool off a bit in the Duluth area but still will remain hot. Despite cooling temperatures, for the duration of this extended heat wave, a good portion of the Northland will run the risk of heat-related impacts so be cautious.
How Hot Will It Get In The Duluth Area This Week?
According to the National Weather Service of Duluth, heat indices will reach the low 100s, peaking on the first day of the week. Temperatures will reach the 90s and humidity will also increase, meaning we are in for an uncomfortable day.

Even when things cool off a bit post-start of the week, temperatures will still be in the upper 80s. Some areas will even see an increased risk of heat-related impacts, like areas along the South Shore and Northwest Wisconsin.

It looks like things will cool off for the weekend - just in time to spend time comfortably outdoors for the Fourth of July holiday. FOX 21's Rusty Mehlberg also shared details about this summer heat, writing that we can also expect storm chances.

Some of those storms may be severe. The bottom line is we have a lot going on in the weather department this week so stay on top of the weather and make sure you are prepared for it all.
