Duluth Salvation Army In Short Supply Of Bell Ringers

The Duluth Salvation Army's biggest fundraising campaign of the year is off to a slow start. Bell ringers are needed to help raise money for the hefty goal of $225,000 by Christmas.

If there is no ringer, the red kettle won't be out at the location. This is the single biggest fundraiser of the year for the Salvation Army and proceeds go to help support families in need during the holiday season and beyond.

New this year is the Red Kettle Queen. She can be seen out with appearances across the Northland to help promote the fundraising efforts. She encourages people to come out dressed in holiday costumes and donate to the Red Kettle Campaign.

Cyndi Lewis, Director Of Development at the Duluth Salvation Army, says they are pacing behind last year at this time.

“I am so worried about raising enough money during this holiday season, that we have decided to make an additional bonus appearance. We are also so thankful for all that Miners Inc. does for us, and we wanted to add an appearance during the Miner’s Match and their Register Roundup campaign."

Thursday, November 30, 2023, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, at Miller Hill Mall by Applebee’s (indoors) a. The 30th person to donate to the kettle will be crowned Red Kettle Royalty
Tuesday, December 5, 2023, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, at Miller Hill Mall by JC Penney (indoors) a. The 5th person to donate to the kettle will be crowned Red Kettle Royalty
Tuesday, December 12, 2023, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, at Miller Hill Mall by Noodles and Company (indoors) a. The 12th person to donate to the kettle will be crowned Red Kettle Royalty
Friday, December 15, 2023, from 1-3 pm at Plaza Super One in Duluth
Thursday, December 21, 2023, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, at CUB Foods (indoors) a. The 21st person to donate to the kettle will be crowned Red Kettle Royalty

People who would like to volunteer and help ring bells for the Salvation Army can sign up online at DuluthSA.org or at registertoring.org. Ringing hours are from 11 am to 7 pm.
