The City of Duluth issued a cautionary boil water notice on Wednesday morning for some residents. Tuesday evening, crews were performing reservoir tank maintenance when water levels dropped unexpectedly low. This caused some residents in the Upper Lakeside neighborhood to experience low or no water pressure.

Cautionary Boil Water Notice

The cautionary boil water notice is issued for the area between 43rd Avenue East to 54th Avenue East, and from Norwood Street up to Skyline.

The city is testing the water to confirm it's safe for drinking in the area. They expect to get test results back on Friday morning and will share the results of the test at that time. In the meantime, drinking water should be boiled before consuming it out of caution.

How To Boil Drinking Water

While most people should be able to figure this out, the city did issue some guidelines. When using water for drinking or cooking, bring the water to a full rolling boil. Let it rest and cool before drinking it.  Boiling water kills bacteria and any other organisms in the water. You should not use tap water at this time for brushing your teeth, either. It is safe to use the tap water for showering and doing laundry.
