UPDATE: Duluth-Based Custom Lure Company Raises $2,230 For St. Jude
UPDATE TO ORGINAL STORY: The Friday night live auction described below was a great success. There were up to 100 people taking part in the auction and a total of $2,230 was raised for St. Jude. Justin Gower says he plans to do it again next year and expects it to be "even bigger and better". Thank you to all who made this terrific donation possible!
A Duluth-based custom lure company, inspired by the mission and stories being told during the B105 Cares For St. Jude Kids Radiothon has organized a Friday night live, online auction to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Justin Gower, owner of JG’s Custom Lures LLC, was moved to action. He decided to raise money by putting 5 of his popular lures up for an online auction, but he didn't stop there. He next contacted Darrel Wood, owner of Hi Tech Custom Painted Baits LLC to have them include 5 of their lures as well.
Once the companies joined forces, an official announcement was made Thursday, February 11, on the JG’s Custom Lures LLC Facebook page:
Ok fellow fishing friends and family tomorrow night (Friday) at 8pm a live auction featuring five lures from JGs and five lures from Hi Tech Custom Painted Baits LLC Custom Painting Service. These lures will be auctioned off either as a whole set or individual depending on what viewers would like. All the profit will be donated to St.Judes from this auction. I’m hoping we can get a great turn out for this. Please share and you must be on the actual page live video or I will not see your comments. Thank you all for the support and helping these kids fighting cancer. Fishing to fight Cancer.
This is an incredible gesture by Justin Gower and Darrel Wood and we can't thank them enough for stepping up to help kids, including Northland kids who have utilized protocols developed at St. Jude.
To participate in this live, online auction, please join their live Facebook video Friday, February 12 at 8:00 p.m. Bids and questions will be seen in the 'Comments' section.
