Downtown Duluth Snow Removal Continues This Week; More Wintry Weather Is Expected
If you're heading to Downtown Duluth this week, pay close attention to signage on Superior Street relating to snow removal or you could get ticketed and towed.
The City of Duluth announced that Duluth Maintenance crews will be conducting snow removal this week on Superior Street, with crews expected to be out on Tuesday, January 12, Wednesday, January 13 and Thursday, January 14.
The majority of the work is expected to be done between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. each of those three days, with work beginning on 7th Avenue West then moving to 4th Avenue East over the three days, block by block. Areas impacted will be clearly marked with temporary parking signs. Again, the City notes that all illegally parked cars will be ticketed and towed if necessary.
Of course, the moment a snow removal project begins, Old Man Winter is bound to order up another round of wintry weather and that's just what will happen to close out this week in the Northland.
According to our media partners at WDIO, a wintry mix is expected to move into the area late Wednesday night and continue into Thursday morning, which could make for challenging driving conditions. Once the wintry mix changes over to snow, we can expect to see snow beginning Thursday and continuing on and off through Friday night. The snow is expected to move out of the area prior to midnight. No snow is currently expected this weekend.
