Discount Duluth Announces Store Closing
Sad news for fans of Discount Duluth - the store will be closing at the end of the year.
The store's owners announced the news Saturday on their Facebook page. In a short video, they explain why they made the decision:
In the two-minute video, they state they weren't equipped to handle retail, despite their many efforts to "stay ahead of the game."
Doors will officially be closing at the end of December, although a final date was not announced.
Until then, the store will be open for their regular business hours which run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. The store closes an hour earlier beginning Thursday through Sunday.
Grateful customers flooded the comment section on the announcement post, telling the store's owners how much they will miss the space.
Discount Duluth is owned by Joel and Reed Elling. According to the store's website, the two grew up in a lower income family in West Duluth and only bought things that were on sale. They got their start online selling a wide variety of products and the store was a result of certain things not being a good fit for the online market.
Discount Duluth had a great go of it. They started in a location that was less than 1,000 feet and expanded to a 4,500 square foot location in January of this year.
Head out to the store before it closes and cash in on some great deals. The store is located at 215 North Central Avenue.
