Ok, seriously.  Congratulations Packers Fans.  I'm happy for you.  This isn't a joke.  I'm a Viking's fan who actually is sincerely congratulating you.  It's starting to look like it may be tougher for you to  accept my kind words than it is for me to say them.I got several e-mails today from Packers fans with trash talking about the Vikings, or "in your face" type of e-mails.  The truth is, the only reason I didn't want the packers to win at the beginning of this, is because I'd have to deal with all the trash talking the next day.

I like Aaron Rodgers.  I like the whole idea of a publicly owned franchise from a small city, Green Bay.  I don't care for "Big Ben".  And I realized that even though I announced I was rooting for the Steelers on the morning show last week, I couldn't help but cheer on the Packer's interception return for a td.  It was almost like a battle between good and evil in my head.  When the packers won, I actually smiled.

As a Viking's fan, we are programmed from our first football game to hate the packers.  It's not fair to like both teams.  Your two favorite teams are the Vikings and whoever the Packers are playing.  It's the same for Packers fans too.  Trash talking is what makes a rivalry work.  But there is a point when the two sides need to be civil about things.  Like when I say, congratulations, don't come back with, "Yeah how many super bowls have you won?"

I know the answer is zero.  I cried in 1998.  I pulled my hair out last year vs the Saints.  Whenever the Viking's score a touchdown, I hold my breath and wait for the flag.  If the Vikings ever do win the Super Bowl, I won't start cheering until they turn the lights off at the stadium, because as a Minnesota sports fan, anything bad can happen at the last minute.  Just like that field goal in 1998.

Congratulations Packers.  You represented the black and blue division well.  And who knows, if the Vikings ever move away from Minnesota, it probably won't be that hard for me to switch sides.
