Area soccer fans got great news Tuesday with the announcement that the CONCACAF Gold Cup, including the U.S. National Team, will be coming next summer to the new Allianz Field in St. Paul.

The CONCACAF Gold Cup is soccer’s national-team championship for the North America, Central America and Caribbean regions.

According to StarTribune.com, the confederation announced that Allianz Field will be the site of Group D play, which includes the U.S. Men's National Team on June 18, which is the first day of the tournament.

Allianz Field, the future home of the Minnesota United FC, is currently under construction, but completion of the 19,400-seat capacity stadium is scheduled to be completed in February, 2019.

The complete CONCACAF Gold Cup schedule will be announced early next year, once all nations have qualified. For the first time in tournament history, they are expanding to 16 teams.  Look for tickets to go on sale mid to late November.
