City-Wide Fall Clean-Up Event is Saturday in Duluth
After a summer where many residents enjoyed all that the great outdoors has to offer in Duluth, there are many areas where people simply failed to pickup after themselves so Keep Duluth Clean has organized a city-wide event clean-up event this weekend.
According to the City of Duluth, Keep Duluth Clean (KDC) is "a Duluth-volunteer based group organizing clean-ups and raising awareness on litter, dumping, and other environmental issues within the city." KDC organizers are coordinating this all day clean-up event in order to inspire residents to take work together and rid the city of trash before winter arrives. This is something they do twice every year.
This fall Keep Duluth Clean event is Saturday, September 25 and participating is easy. All residents are asked to do is clean up where they live, work or play.
This would include cleaning up in front of where you live, at a nearby park, trail or stream, near their workplace or at any other location where a need has been observed. Residents are asked to each donate a minimum of 30 minutes of their time in order to clean-up an area within Duluth.
“Duluth is a gorgeous city and our residents want it to stay that way, but it requires continuous work by us all.” Julia Wisehart, Leadership Committee of KDC said. “We are excited to provide an organized clean-up in the spring and fall to encourage residents, students and business to take part in beautifying their city”!
Those who do volunteer can win prizes from local businesses as organizers will hold random drawings throughout the day. To be eligible to win prizes, you'll simply need to fill out a litter report form.
You can follow the button below to register for the event and to submit your litter report form.
Keep Duluth Clean would also like all volunteers to follow recommended safety guidelines by the CDC for outdoor activities. This would include wearing gloves when picking up garbage and wearing a mask when necessary.
