City Of Cloquet Seeking Donations For July 4 Fireworks Display
The City Of Cloquet wants to celebrate the 4th of July with with a fireworks display for all residents to enjoy, but public donations are needed in order to make that happen.
According to organizers, the fireworks cost $13,000, a financial number they're finding difficult to reach this year. Therefore, they're reaching out to the community for help:
Typically, 90% of our donations come from the business community. With the COVID-19 outbreak, and multiple businesses being closed, we need YOU more than ever this year.
While the City of Duluth has pushed their fireworks display to Labor Day for fear of gathering crowds during the COVID-19 pandemic, the goal is to have fireworks in Cloquet on the 4th Of July.
They plan on having everyone watch them from socially appropriate distances, or even from their vehicles to keep the community safe.
There is still time to get the money raised and close the fireworks financial gap. Also, with Minnesota's Stay At Home order ending, and being replaced by a more flexible Stay Safe order, perhaps an increase in local business activity will allow more businesses to contribute as had been the case in the past.
The Stay Safe order allows retail businesses and other establishments to open at 50% occupancy, so long as they have strategies in place to allow for social distancing, as mitigation strategies are still crucial.
