It is no secret the holiday season is here and that means Bentleyville is in full swing. The big event is so popular that people come from all over the place to take in the lights.

As a Twin Ports resident, there are a few things you just know. One of them is that it is best to attend the light show during the week or on a lighter day where tourists are not coming to town for the event.

If you come on a weekday, you are able to enjoy the light show without massive crowds, not including holidays. You can take a leisurely stroll and waltz through the light display, taking pictures and selfies along the way.

Whether tourists or Twin Ports residents themselves, many flocked to Bentleyville over the weekend. To say many is an understatement here. You really just have to see how many people were there to believe it!

Bentleyville did warn people that it would be crowded, issuing a traffic alert ahead of the weekend. There were many other big events in the Duluth area, including a UMD Hockey Game and the Arrowhead Ice Fishing & Winter Show all weekend long.

Still, people were passionate enough to brave the traffic to head to the light show! Take a look at the photo Bentleyville organizers shared on their Facebook page Saturday (December 11th). It was taken around 5:30 in the evening.

Wow! This is an incredible amount of people trying to get in on the action. Although Bentleyville did not give official numbers on how many people attended, it is obvious that it was a crazy amount.

Bentleyville also added some new additions this year: cameras! They were able to get extra cameras throughout the property, which makes it easier to keep big crowds in check. They have dealt with vandalism in the past and these cameras make the space more secure.

If you haven't made it to Bentleyville just yet, we have you covered. We have everything you need to know before you go, including when it is open and what to expect this year when you are there. It is always best to be prepared for a big event like this.

A few years back, a love connection was almost made at Bentleyville. A few months after the 2019 event, I came across a cute "missed connection" post online. A man was seeking a woman he found at Bentleyville. He described the woman and her daughter and even said he helped her take photos in front of some lights. Here's to hoping this love connection worked out because it has the makings of a Hallmark movie.

Speaking of cheesy holiday movies, the Lifetime movie filmed in Minnesota in 2020 is just a dollar to buy right now! That is cheaper than renting a movie so you better check it out. It will definitely get you in the holiday spirit.
