Astronomy Day 2021 With UMD Has Fun For The Whole Family
On May 22nd, UMD is celebrating Astronomy Day, and like many of their events, they are inviting you to be a part of it for free.
Astronomy is a natural science that studies celestial objects and phenomena. So in short, space things. It can mean planets, stars, moons, comets, and even pulsars. Being there is a lot to learn about space, and a lot we don't know about it, it's a natural wonder.
On Astronomy Day, UMD invites you to the Marshall W. Alworth Planetarium to pick up a fun take home activity kit so you can learn about astronomy. In addition, the staff will have socially distant demonstrations and the chance to win a raffle prize. The free kits to take home will have three separate activities to do and are for people of all ages. These are first come, first serve, so make sure you get there early to get yours. UMD will also have an additional activity kit for you to make your own telescope at home, these will be available for a small fee.
The event will take place from 2:00-4:00PM, and raffle winners will be announced that evening via the Planetarium's Facebook page HERE. The Marshall W.
