Vehicle and foot traffic on Park Point picks up in the summer and so does the the shipping industry.  It is a sure sign that warmer weather and sunny days are ahead when the Aerial Lift Bridge starts their summer schedule.  What does that mean to you?  Maybe a little time spent in your car being "bridged".  Check out the summer schedule here.

The Aerial Lift Bridge will begin operating "summer hours" starting tomorrow Friday, May 22nd. That means that the bridge will start lifting on the hour and half hour between 7:00a and 9:00p, seven days a week until Labor Day.

The Lift Bridge will also open, upon request, from for Federal, state, and local government vessels, vessels in distress, commercial vessels engaged in rescue or emergency salvage operations, commercial-assist towing vessels engaged in towing or port operations, vessels engaged in pilot duties, vessels seeking shelter from severe weather, and all commercial vessels 300 gross tons or greater.  Whew!

For those lucky ducks in the boats and water vessels, you are reminded to maintain the posted slow-no wake speed in the entrance to the Duluth Ship Canal.

Have a super fun and safe summer exploring the City of Duluth and remember if you live here and get "bridged", get out of the car and enjoy the experience.  I know our tourists are thrilled when it happens!
