Do you have wheels on your ice house? If the answer is yes, you better get out your wallet.

According to several media outlets, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has been pushing to increase fees for hunting and fishing. This is part of that effort. Don't worry though - the fee isn't hefty. It's just $16 dollars.

The fee is new for ice house owners. Anglers who own ice houses with wheels have never faced a fee nor been licensed in this way before.

This is because the Department of Natural Resources used to consider ice houses as portable. Now, only those that collapse, fold or are taken apart for transportation are considered portable. Ice houses with wheels do not qualify under the new regulations.

Note: ice house owners only need a license if they plan to leave it unattended. New regulation defines unattended as 200 feet away or more.
