I keep hearing on TV, the radio, newspaper, and on the internet, that you should laminate your COVID vaccine card so that it will last because you should carry it around.

There are a few other things you need to do. Market Watch recommends you should do some things first before you laminate your COVID vaccination card.

  1. You should check your card for errors. If you have the wrong address or phone number or other personal information, the card is no good. You laminite the card and you can't use it to prove you have the vaccine. That means no flying, traveling, going to some shows or events, and other things that require you have a VALID vaccine card.
  2. Make sure you have your second shot before you have anything done. Don't copy or laminate or make extra ones until you have the second shot (or final shot if you only have the one-shot vaccine).
  3. Make a photocopy of the card. Run it through your scanner and make a copy. You should also send that copy to yourself in an email so now you have another hard copy and one that can be printed. For that matter, you should use your phone and take a copy because you will have it on your phone that can be printed for proof that you had this done.
  4. Have it professionally laminated. Unless you are good. If you try to do it on your own and you end up folding the lamination sheet a little and then use it and it folds some information up so you can't read it, or you have a huge bubble in it and it distorts the information. If you buy cheap lamination sheets, it might make the ink run. Some of the lamination paper doesn't have any sticky stuff on it and you may lose your card anyway without protecting it.
  5. Don't post it on social media. That would be like posting your credit card or social security card online. No one would do that but they post a picture of their vaccination card which has a lot of personal information on the card to show their friends and family (and hackers and scammers) that they are responsible. NOT very responsible!
