5 Country Stars The Super Bowl Should Consider For The Halftime Show
Rumors have been swirling for awhile - as they always do - about who may be taking on the Super Bowl stage this year.
For awhile, many believed pop supergroup Maroon 5 would take the stage and it seems the speculation has finally been confirmed.
While I think they will put on an awesome show, I secretly wish a country star was performing on the halftime stage instead - or at least in the future!
There is no shortage of worthy candidates in the country music world. Everyone from Miranda Lambert to Darius Rucker to Tim McGraw would absolutely kill it. This list could go on forever!
While we won't see a country artist or group on stage this year, it could happen in the future. So, who would put on the best show?
As I said, there are certainly a ton of worthy candidates but a few talented entertainers stand out for all the right reasons. Here are 5 of those country stars.
Hey Super Bowl, are you listening?
- 1
Carrie Underwood
She sings the theme song for Sunday Night Football so she's no stranger to the sport - in fact, she already has an in! She's arguably the biggest star in country music but even those not interested in the genre know her name thanks to her stint on American Idol. She's got a killer voice and has a reputation for putting on high-energy performances. She's got a long list of hit songs, too.
- 2
Luke Bryan
You can always count on this country star to bring the fun! He doesn't take himself too seriously and that's exactly what we need in today's day and age. People want a fun halftime show - not a politically charged one, right? Nevertheless, he has some catchy tunes and just wrapped a record-breaking stadium tour so you know he can work the room.
- 3
Chris Stapleton
Sure, this would be one of the more laid-back halftime shows but that would be just fine if it meant we got ten minutes of his vocals and harmonies with his wife, Morgane. He hasn't been nominated for 'Entertainer Of The Year' for nothing. He's also a household name. We'd call this one a win.
- 4
Keith Urban
He has crossover appeal thanks to his time on American Idol and his famous wife, Nicole Kidman. He also has a career spanning over a decade with some iconic signs known across genres. He was just named the CMA Entertainer Of The Year and if you see him in concert, it's easy to see why. This would be one crazy show we think fans of all genres could get behind.
- 5
Little Big Town
If you saw them the last time they came to Duluth, you know this one is a no-brainer. The group can sing just about anything and make it sound good and their harmonies are perfection. Whether they are slaying an Elton John cover or rocking one of their own ballads, we have a band crush and we are pretty sure everyone else does too.
