2024 Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon Sells Out In Record Time

People are really in the mood to race! The famous Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon is officially sold out so hopefully you snagged your spot for the 2024 event. It took less than one-hundred hours to sell out, making it the fastest sellout in years.

The popular race is part of Grandma's Marathon weekend and holds a capacity of over eight-thousand runners. While it does sell out eventually, this time around it did so the fastest it has since 2018.

For the record, registration opened at 7 p.m. on Sunday (October 1st). It was announced early Thursday (October 5th) that the half marathon was officially a sellout. This isn't too surprising, as even the opening night of registration saw record numbers.

The race is so popular that registration used to be lottery-based, meaning it was first come, first serve. However, the team switched over to this model, meaning the race sells out quicker and in this case, in record time.

If you still want to get in on the action, don't fret! There are a few more options for those that want to take part in the half marathon, including:

• Taking part in the Half Great Grandma's Challenge, where runners sign up for the 2024 William A. Irvin 5K and half marathon. At the time of writing, there were less than fifty spots left so hop on it!
• Signing up for the two-year guaranteed program, where runners can sign up for next year's half marathon and the 2025 event. This not only saves your spot for two years but supports the Young Athlete's Foundation. There are only one-hundred spots for this particular program.
• Register through one of Grandma's charity partners and hit a fundraising goal. Once that goal is hit, your organization will get a free entry into any of the races or events.

Even if you aren't a big runner, taking part in the 5K is a great option! If you have always wanted to try something new or finally commit to your dream of taking part in a Grandma's Marathon weekend, now is the time to do it.

Next year, the races will take place on Saturday, June 22nd. However, taking part in any of the races really is a full weekend event. There is nothing like the rush and thrill of people coming to town for the race. I can't recommend it enough!
