I'm sure your plans include snuggling up on your couch with a juicy television show to devour and let's face it - there are so many options, it can be overwhelming and hard to choose just one.

From action-packed dramas to over-the-top soaps to the supernatural, there really is something for everyone out there with more critically-acclaimed content coming out in the past few years than ever before. (Thanks a bunch, Netflix!)

I've put together a list of ten buzzed-about shows to get you started.

  • 1

    The Crown

  • 2

    Mindhunter

This Netflix show has been getting critical acclaim since its October release. It centers around two FBI agents who track serial killers while also changing the way they catch them. It's fascinating and has some big names behind it. Charlize Theron is an executive producer. Enough said.

    This Is Us

I'm sure you've heard of the groundbreaking NBC drama by now, unless you've been living under a rock. The show follows a family through different phases of life. It's a tearjerker and not for the faint of heart but it also has a hint of nostalgia. What better time of year to embrace it?

    Riverdale

A hard-hitting television show this is not but it sure is fun. Based on the a famous "Archie" comic series, the teen soap follows a group of high schoolers in an untrustworthy town trying to get to the bottom of a mysterious murder. It's an easy watch with twists, turns, romance, love triangles and corrupt families. It's as dramatic as it gets. It's a perfect binge-watch because you don't have to take it too seriously.

  • 5

    Stranger Things

This needs no further explanation but just in case: this show centers around a small group of friends who set out to find their missing friend, who mysteriously disappeared out of the blue. The show is a little scary, a little supernatural and very strange but that's what makes it a cult phenomenon. Bonus: the second season just came out in October so there's more to love. Plus, you can finally understand what everyone is talking about.

    13 Reasons Why

This show was one of the most talked about in all of 2017. The heavy series follows the journey of a young high school girl who commits suicide. In every episode, she gives another reason why she took her own life, hence the title. The show has been praised and Katherine Langford earned a Golden Globe nod for her role. It's dark but its important.

    Glee

Do you need a little music in your life? The Fox hit has been off the air for a few years but it still stands the test of time. The drama/comedy became an instant classic thanks to its cast and big, shiny musical numbers. It will put you in a good mood but may also make you cry a little, too.

    Planet Earth

Call me a dork for including this on my list but this documentary series is nothing short of amazing. There is only one season but there are cute animals aplenty. It's visually stunning and different than anything else on the list. What could be better?

  • 9

    Gilmore Girls

The famous dramedy was off the air for nearly ten years before it returned for a small story arc last year. Standing the test of time like that is no easy feat. Watch this show about a single mother and her daughter living in a small Connecticut town and you'll see what all the buzz is about.

    One Tree Hill

As far as teen soap operas go, this is one of the best. It's campy and over the top and dramatic and absolutely amazing. Tree Hill is a small town with a lot of secrets and dysfunctional relationships but it also has a lot of heart and great music. You'll laugh, you'll cry and you'll be devastated that it was all just a show when you're finished.
