$1 Million Winning Mega Millions Ticket Sold In Wisconsin, Jackpot Reaches $1.25 Billion
While Powerball always seems to get the most attention, Mega Millions is another nationwide lottery game that also generates huge jackpots.
On Tuesday, August 1, that jackpot has grown to $1.1 billion and while nobody won that incredible payday, someone in northern Wisconsin did become a millionaire.
Mega Millions drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday at 10:00 p.m. CST. The rules of the game are similar to Powerball. It's $2 per play and for an additional $1 per play, players can purchase the Megaplier feature to increase non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4, or 5 times. Players pick five numbers from 1-70 and one Mega Ball number from 1-25. Those numbers can be selected by the player or they can choose the quick pick option to have them randomly selected for them.
There are nine ways to win, starting with $2 for matching just the Mega Ball. Match the first five numbers plus the Mega Ball to win the jackpot. In order to win $1 million, you'd have to match all five numbers but miss on the Mega Ball.
According to the Wisconsin Lottery, that's just what happened August, 4 in Bloomer, Wisconsin. They announced the big news Wednesday on their official Facebook page, saying:
Congratulations to Bloomer Kwik Trip for selling a $1 million dollar Mega Millions ticket for last night's drawing!
Kwik Trip #427 is located at 1625 Woodard Road in Bloomer. The winning Mega Millions numbers from August 1 were 8-24-30-45-61 and the Mega Ball Number was 12. If you or someone you know recently purchased a Mega Millions ticket, you'll want to double-check those numbers to make sure you're not sitting on $1 million!
The next Mega Millions drawing will be held at 10:00 p.m. CST on Friday, August 4 with an estimated jackpot of $1.2 billion. If you want to take a shot at winning big, make sure to purchase your ticket no later than Friday at 9:00 p.m. CST.
