Second Harvest Food Bank Receives $48,000 From Bag Hunger Campaign
Second Harvest Food Bank is receiving some much-needed funds for the holiday season. In October, Super One Foods held a Bag Hunger campaign to raise money to support those in need this holiday season.
Money was raised at the Super One Foods registers across the Northland from October 13-20. Customers could donate $1, $3, $5, or round up at the register. In all, over $48,457.94 was raised across the 23 participating stores in the Northland.
Shaye Moris, Executive Director of Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank expressed the organization's gratitude:
We are so thrilled with this first-ever event. Thanks to the generosity of Super One Foods customers,
over 145,000 meals will be provided to families, children and seniors within our region over the
holidays.
A check presentation will occur on Friday, November 17, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Superior One Foods, 5401 Burning Tree Road, Duluth.

Super One has partnered with Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank for over 3 decades, but this was the first year for the Bag Hunger campaign at the registers.
Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank is the region's only food bank. They use their resources to secure products for 125 non-profit charitable feeding programs. Approximately 44,000 people in need rely on the work the organization does across St. Louis, Carlton, Lake, and Cook Counties in Minnesota. They also support Douglas, Bayfield, Ashland, and Iron Counties in Northwest Wisconsin.
Last year alone, Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank distributed 7.6 million pounds of food to local families. That's roughly 6.1 million meals across the Northland.
