The Northern Waters Smokehaus story began 25 years ago when, according to their website, they set out to offer a "small, specialized service (smoked fish and imported cheese) to a specialized audience (those with the monetary means coupled with the right palettes)."

It was a modest beginning with a total of five employees, including owner Eric Goerdt. They have since grown and have been offering a nice variety of award-winning smoked foods, sandwiches, and more from their location within the DeWitt-Seitz Marketplace in Canal Park. However, as their popularity continued to grow, they realized they had outgrown their space.

Good news arrived late this year when Northern Waters Smokehaus shared on social media that they would be moving to an exciting new space that would allow them to offer their customers even more. The hard work of moving would begin right away:

Beginning Monday (11/6) we’ll be all-hands-on-deck to move into our new location...We’re honestly not certain how long it’s going to take, but we want it to go as quickly and smoothly as possible, as we’re SO FREAKIN’ EXCITED to share this new space with you all!!

While this was certainly good news for the team at Northern Waters Smokehaus, it's also good news for customers as they would also ultimately benefit from the new location.

It seemed their goal of becoming a place where customers can sit and enjoy all they have to offer had been achieved.

They must have worked fast a furious because less than a week after that Facebook post, the Northern Waters Smokehaus announced they were ready to open the doors in their new location.

While they admitted there may be some "kinks" that need to be worked out with their new setup, they were ready to greet customers on Friday, November 10.

According to a report by our media partners at WDIO-TV, the reopening of Northern Waters Smokehaus will also include an expanded menu and different drinks to choose from, including a selection from local breweries and wine by the glass.

The Northern Waters Smokehaus is open from its new location, in the basement of the DeWitt-Seitz Marketplace, Sundays through Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

They have grown from a grab-and-go place to a place where customers can sit, hang out, and enjoy the atmosphere. Their future plans include bringing in live music and community activities.
