Harold's Hogfest took place this last Saturday at the Carlton VFW. It's an annual pig roast where they serve up some really good food to raise money for the kids at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. We knew early last week that the forecast called for rain, but organizers decided to go ahead with the event rain or shine. Fortunately people still showed up, as they always do for Harold's St. Jude's fundraisers throughout the year.

The event itself raised $2,665 for the kids at St. Jude. They want to thank all the volunteers, and to Calrton County Meats for donating meat for the roast. The Ankrum's would also like to especially thank Ray & Patti Schmitz, and Mike Svacina and Jackie Schmitz-Svacina for all they did to make the day a success.

Just two weeks ago was Harold's Golf Fiasco which took place at the Pine Hill Golf Course. They raised over $21,000 for St. Jude. Earlier in the year they also had drive up donations instead of the planned "Harold's Flippin' Flapjacks" pancake feed because of COVID-19. They had members of the community donating money to St. Jude for months following that fundraiser. They don't have a complete total yet, but they anticipate they will top last year's total of $33,000 for the year. That's an incredible amount, and we are so grateful for this wonderful group from Calrton, Minnesota. We'll announce the total during this year's St. Jude Radiothon on B105. Over the years they have raised over $350,000 for the kids at St. Jude. Tremendous!
