Wrecktangle Pizza Sets Opening Date For New Duluth, MN Location

Wrecktangle Pizza, a family-owned pizza shop from Minneapolis, is known not only for having some of the best pizza in Minnesota, but they were recently named the best pizza in the country.

In 2023, Good Morning America launched the United States of Pizza competition to find the best pizza in the country. The competition focused on the five cities of Minneapolis, New York City, Atlanta, Chicago, and Philadelphia.

Wrecktangle Pizza won the contest with its breakfast pizza, which is topped with cheddar jack and several other kinds of cheese, plus sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, bacon jam, and fried sage.

At the time, Wrecktangle Pizza had two locations, both in the Twin Cities area. However, good news arrived earlier this year when it was announced that they would soon be opening a new location in Duluth.

Wrecktangle Pizza Opening In Duluth, Minnesota

Wrecktangle specializes in Detroit-style pizza, a rectangular, deep-dish pizza known for its thick, crispy crust, caramelized cheese edges, and a "red top" where the sauce is applied on top of the cheese and toppings.

In March 2025, they announced plans to expand into Duluth inside Wild State Cider in Duluth's Lincoln Park Craft District. While that news was met with a lot of excitement, there wasn't an opening date announced at that time.

However, now an opening date has been announced, and the even better news is that it's happening very fast.

According to an Instagram post, the menu will be similar to Wrecktangle's other locations, including the Shredder Pizza, Smoked Wingz, pickle roll-ups, and Dr.Prizza Wontons. They're also teasing "a very special DULUTH ONLY pizza."

If you're unfamiliar with the Shredder Pizza, it features pepperoni, pickled jalapeño, whipped Cry Baby Craig's Honey, pecorino romano, red sauce, and the special Wrecktangle Pizza cheese blend.
