We all hear how the best pizza in the United States can be found in places like Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, etc. Cities in Minnesota rarely enters the 'best pizza' discussion but that changed recently when a pizzeria from the Land Of 10,000 Lakes was named the best in the U.S.

Good Morning America launched the United States Of Pizza competition to find the best pizza in the country. The competition focused on the five cities of Minneapolis, New York City, Atlanta, Chicago, and Philadelphia, where judges spent a lot of time eating a lot of pizza. Doesn't that sound like a tough gig?

On Friday, February 17, all the finalists gathered on Good Morning America so that a winner could be crowned. Representing Minnesota was Wrecktangle Pizza, which has two locations in the Twin Cities, one in Malcolm Yards and the other in the Lyn-Lake neighborhood.

Wrecktangle Pizza co-owner Jeff Rogers was there and the pizza he chose to introduce was his restaurant's breakfast pizza, which is topped with cheddar jack and several other kinds of cheese, plus sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, bacon jam, and fried sage.

I think that sounds amazing! Judges Aarti Sequeira and Francis Garcia of New York's Artichoke Basille's Pizza, chose Wrecktangle as their favorite of all the finalists. You can hear what judges said about their pizza in Good Morning America's tweet.

When it was all said and done, the Minnesota pizzeria took home the top prize. For winning Good Morning America's "United States Of Pizza" competition, Wrecktangle Pizza receives $10,000 and a golden pizza cutter.

I think a delicious road trip from the Northland to the Twin Cities is definitely in order!
