Charlie Berens Fights Back Against AI Data Centers Taking Over Wisconsin

Comedian and influencer Charlie Berens posted a Manitowoc Minute Special Report where he got political and urged other Wisconsinites to stand up against big tech.

Usually, his videos are fun and light-hearted, and while he lands some good jokes in this special report, the topic is far from funny. He discusses how the Port Washington, Wisconsin, city council approved an 8 billion dollar data center to be built in their town. 

Data Centers use a lot of water and energy. Local residents spoke at the city council meeting, voicing their opposition to the project, citing fears of rising energy costs, environmental impacts, and advancing AI technology.

Big tech companies are eyeing up regions around the Great Lakes because of the abundance of fresh water. Some are worried that massive data centers will change the way of life for Wisconsinites.

He speculates that the data centers will take away water from farmers, pollute our great lakes, and lower property values. Also, a concern is the noise and light pollution these massive structures will give off.
