Trapped Bobcat Freed From Front Bumper In Wisconsin
Well, this isn't something you see everyday. I saw a post going around Facebook and couldn't believe it! A Sheriff's Office in Wisconsin was dispatched for a very unusual reason: there was a bobcat stuck in a car.
Sheriff Mike Lukas of the Portage County Sheriff's Office shared a photo and even video from the random incident. The details were posted on Wednesday (April 19th), with the accident happening the night prior, according to local reports.
According to Lukas' post, someone called dispatch claiming that there was a bobcat in their car. When they arrived on the scene, they saw the animal seemingly stuck behind the front bumper of the vehicle. A bobcat is probably the last thing the crew expected.
This isn't something that the deputies were accustomed too so they called in members of the Wisconsin DNR. A conservation warden showed up and knew exactly what to do, getting the bobcat out of the front bumper safely and into a car without any injuries to the people on site or the bobcat itself.
The bobcat was returned to the wild and all is well, although the owners of the car may need a new grille. It makes for a good story and thankfully, the bobcat is back where it belongs! This definitely isn't something I would want to see when walking back to my car.
If you are familiar with this part of Wisconsin, the incident happened near I-39 just south of Plover. The driver of the vehicle hit the bobcat while driving but didn't know it at the time, thinking it was debris. The driver pulled over and was shocked to find a bobcat hanging out in the front bumper, relatively unharmed.
File this one under one of the weirdest things to happen in 2023 so far.
