Registration is now open for northern Minnesota's oldest road race - the Park Point 5-Miler.  This years race is the evening of July 20th.  If you're already training for Grandmas Marathon weekend, run 5k's or want to make this a first organized run, I think you should totally go for it. It's a nice Friday evening and even though it's been warm and humid the past several years, there are friendly Park Point residents there to cheer you on and spray you with a hose.

I've enjoyed running this the past couple years, mostly because I was already in running shape from training from the half marathon.  I never run year round, just when training for something and this race is close enough to Grandmas weekend that I can do it.  Then I don't run again until Thanksgiving.

The the Park Point 5-miler is another race that benefits The Young Athletes Foundation, which I think is great.  Here is the itinerary:

Park Point 5-Miler – Friday, July 20, 2012

5:30 p.m. – Free Youth Races (14 & under)

6:15 p.m. – Two-mile walk

6:30 p.m. – Five-mile run

Award Ceremony (At the Park Point Pavilion following completion of the five-mile run)

Runners and walkers can register or find out more information by clicking this link.

Have fun and good luck!
