I recently got to see the Minnesota Vikings in their temporary home as they battled the Atlanta Falcons in Teddy Bridgewater's first start.  My friend Curt is from Atlanta so it was the perfect game to go to.

I was never a fan of the Metrodome at all, and I'm very excited about the new stadium, but I wasn't sure what watching the Vikings play at TCF Bank Stadium would be like.  I'm here to tell you that it's much better than I expected.

Granted, the weather was amazing at 80 degrees and the Vikings won with Teddy Bridgewater already looking good, so it was easy to have a good time there.  However, those factors aren't what made it fun.

First, the stadium is intimate when compared to the Metrodome.  Even though we had upper deck seats, it seemed like we were close to the action.  I know the new stadium will once again be a huge venue, so it's cool to take advantage of the TCF Bank Stadium setup.

Another thing I loved about seeing the Vikings in their temporary home was the ability to hang out and party before and after the game with fans.  At the Metrodome, there was no great tailgating spot and when the game was over people all dissolved into the city.  At TCF Bank Stadium there are plenty of very close options to eat and drink before and after the game.  We ended up going to a parking lot party at a bar just steps away from the stadium, and it was a blast.  We got to meet new friends, listen to music and just hang out with a lot of football fans.  The drink prices weren't horrible either.

Finally, I was able to go to the bathroom at TCF Bank Stadium and hardly miss a beat.  Anyone whoever had to use the bathroom at the Metrodome knows that you could be gone 30 minutes on this mission.  It was a bathroom nightmare there, but not here.

So, all in all, I'd gladly go back to TCF Bank Stadium to watch the Vikings play again.  I would actually love to go to a cold winter game as that would be a different but equally fun experience.

If you can get down there for a game, I don't think you'll be disappointed in the experience.
